10 wedding trends that are here to stay

By Holly Poulter Women's legs, assorted dresses, bridal party

Every year brides pore over magazines, search the blogs and follow the catwalks to keep up to date on what’s new and trendy in the wedding world. We’ve seen ombre, vintage, '20s and cake pops come and go, but which trends are really in it for the long haul?

Food trucks and late night snacks

The past few years have seen an increasing number of foodstuffs available on wheels for your wedding. It creates a fantastic carnival atmosphere and guests will love it.

In hot summer months, an ice-cream truck would be a welcome sight after a few turns on the dance floor. Instead of an evening buffet, why not have a hotdog truck or popcorn stand pull up to reward your friends and family for good behaviour?

Custom cocktails

A fairly recent reception trend is the rise of the custom cocktail. Couples are personalising their evening tipples by creating their own cocktail with their favourite flavoursand colours to give to guests.

Some of my clientshanded out one-of-a-kind cocktails to certain guests as a thank you for helping on the big day. It’s a really sweet way of customising your reception and matching up with your theme. And Ithink it’s a trend that’s here to stay.

Photo booths

Photoboothsquickly became the hot rental item for receptions four years ago, and havebecome a wedding staple ever since. They’re interactive, fun and makecute fridge momentos.

But with an increase in demand comes an increase in price, so many brides are choosing to go DIY with it. Create your own custom backdrop, set up a tripod with remote trigger, put together a dress-up box and you’re guaranteed to have guests queuing up to make memories.

Mix and Match

A major trend over the past few years has been a bit of a style mash-up. Bridesmaids used to be in singular colours and singular styles, but personality and colour is breaking out.

Lots of brides are continuing the trend of dressing their female friends and family in complementary hues and differing styles. Respecting individual style makes it easier for your bridesmaids to be able to wear that dress again, and makes for really beautiful and dynamic group shots.
