3 of the best...trikes

By Laura Mason

Every fortnight, journalist and mum Laura Mason will review three of the best baby products on the market for iVillage.co.uk. This week, she looks at trikes.

Smart Trike Dream

Known as leaders within the tricycle world, Smart Trike recently launched its new range of super stylish Dream trikes. Unlike previous models, the Dream features even more innovative features such as the dream touch steering, 4 in 1 swivel wheels and the latest in steering technology.

Suitable from 10 months, the trike provides parental control for those junior stages and develops with your child up to a classic trike. Children are clearly never too young to enjoy some comfort and thanks to a built in suspension and shock absorbent wheels, this trike is suitable for off-roading and exploring the great outdoors.

Mookie Scuttlebug

The compact Scuttlebug is an insect-inspired trike with a difference aimed at toddlers. Extremely portable, it features a simple 3-step folding system that allows you to pop it up and down in seconds, and solves any issues with storage.

The design also means it's suitable for indoor and outdoor use, making it a good solution for keeping kids occupied whatever the weather. The Scuttlebug is also very lightweight, but still durable enough for the most robust of toddlers.

Little Tikes Discover Dashboard

This 3 in 1 trike is a great starter trike with settings to suit children aged 9 months+ thanks to the adjustable seat and parental control handle.

What we really like about this trike is its unique selling point - the interactiveDiscoverSounds® Dashboard which gives added value and extra interest for the child. The dashboard provides a light and sound extravaganza with car-related sound and lighting effects, including engine start-ups, revving, sirens and LED turning signals.

The Dashboard can also be removed from the Trike for stand-alone play, if desired.
