Cheshire cheese, thought to be Britain's oldest named cheese, combines with apples for a twist on a traditional crumble
Ingredients
75g/3 oz unsalted butter - 125g/4 1/2 oz plain flour
- 50g/2 oz porridge oats
- 150g/5 oz golden granulated or demerara sugar
- 700g/1 lb 8 oz Bramley cooking apples
- 40g/1 1/2 oz sultanas
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 150g/5 oz Cheshire cheese

- Pre-heat the oven to //gas mark Grease an ovenproof dish.
- Rub the butter and flour together into a bowl to make rough crumbs.
- Stir in the oats and /z of the sugar. Set aside.
- Peel, core and cut the apples into chunks. Put into a large pan with the sultanas, lemon juice, remaining g/oz sugar and tbsp water. Cook over a medium heat stirring for five minutes until just beginning to soften. Pour the apple mixture into the ovenproof dish.
