Asparagus soldiers wrapped in crispy English ham

British asparagus comes into season in spring time and deserves a special space, wrapped in wafer thing English ham and quickly fried; it would make a perfect canapé.
Ingredients
- 12 slices very thin English ham (parma ham will also do)
- a splash of olive oil for frying

- Snap the end off each asparagus spear and cook briefly in boiling hot water for 2-3 minutes.
- Run under a cold tap to stop them cooking and to keep them nice and green.
- Wrap each spear in a slice of ham, and fry for a minute or so on each side until crispy. Eat while warm.
