The moon and you
As the moon waxes and wanes, your body will react differently to many things, including beauty treatments and how you digest food. Find out the best times to lose weight, change your hairstyle or even pluck those eyebrows!
Wise women have been combining their beauty treatments with the phases of the moon for hundreds of years. But recently, many more people have come to realise that the lunar movements govern the rhythms of all kinds of life cycles, from the tides to plant life, beauty treatments to digestion.
As there are four major phases of the moon - new, increscent, full and old - it can be difficult for the beginner to best utilise the lunar influence at any given time.
Astrologers believe that these phases have a profound affect on our lives, particularly as the moon enters a new zodiac sign approximately every two-and-a-half days. Your lunar high (a good time to start new projects) occurs when the moon is in the same sign as your sun sign, while you should avoid making decisions or may feel at your lowest when the moon is in the sign opposite your sun sign (your lunar low).
A book published recently, explains the moon's powerful influence in great detail. In Tune With The Moon 2008 contains comprehensive instructions on how to read the moon, with month-by-month plans, charts and reminders.
Many women find having their eyebrows plucked or their legs waxed too painful. But the skin is less sensitive at the time of the new moon, which makes it the perfect time to have these procedures carried out. Thinking of changing your hair colour? The full moon is the time to choose. Not only is it the right time to give yourself a new look, but your hair is also more likely to keep its colour and shine longer.
Meals and the moon
Even our diet is affected, because the moon influences our metabolism. If you are not lucky enough to have a cast-iron stomach, digestion and absorption will improve if you pay attention to the times when the moon is passing through the signs and constellations.
For instance, when the moon is waxing, nutrients are absorbed more easily and digestion requires less energy. If you tend to put on weight, this is the time to do something about it.
At the time of the new moon, the renewal of physical energy is at a minimum and is a good time to start eliminating toxins or to tackle a bad habit.
And the waning moon is the phase to choose if you decide to follow a detox programme. It promotes the elimination of toxins from the body.
There are even 'good' times to visit the dentist or undergo surgery, when to treat warts or to cut your nails.
