Buy the most luxurious chocolate you can to make this humble dessert into something glorious
Ingredients
- 1 or 2 ripe, but not over-ripe, bananas
- 2 scoops of the best and strongest vanilla ice-cream (I recommend Hill Station's Strong Vanilla Bean)
- hot chocolate sauce (which you can make yourself by melting Valrhona chocolate in 2 tbsp cream)
- whipped cream, optional
- flaked almonds, toasted, to decorate

- Split the bananas down the middle and arrange with the ice-cream in a shallow glass dish. Top with the hot chocolate sauce and spoon the whipped cream over the top. Scatter almonds over the whole dish and serve immediately.
Alternatives: Serve the chocolate sauce separately; for those who don't want their choccy rations used up this way, heat some luxury caramel spread and offer it instead.
