Summer trends
The catwalks for Summer 2006 were awash with vibrant hues. From the exotic tropical shades of crimson and tangerine at Roland Mouret, to bold primary colours at Cacharel and Gucci, the runways were a cacophony of confident colour
At Chloe, sunshine yellow summer coats were paraded alongside iridescent coral tulip skirts, while at Dolce e Gabbana, scarlet was the order of the day. YSL and Fendi came over all frivolous with flirty dresses in pillar-box red, fiery orange, and electric blue, and jewel-bright shades of magenta, emerald and ruby adorned the runway as simple evening gowns.
Vibrancy is key this season, whether you go all-out for the whole outfit, or you create an impact with well-chosen accessories. Look out for Cacharel's abstract-print wedge shoes, and Moschino Cheap and Chic or Chloe's fabulous super-wedges, all of which are the ultimate statement with a simple white dress. There's pretty floral-print bags at Aquascutum, which you could wear with a matching shift dress, or to simply to liven up a plain outfit. Luella's stripy satchels in red or blue-and-white stripes are the perfect 'schoolgirl' holdall this season, while Fendi's latest version of their popular 'Spy' bag has a heaven-sent beach paradise print on it - but it might cost as much as a holiday!
