iVillagers' fake-tan favourites

What are the best self-tanners on the market? iVillagers reveal their most-wanted

I've recently become a convert to self-tanning. I am very pale-skinned and the traditional lobster colour I usually turn in the sun doesn't suit me! I've been using L'Oreal Sublime spray as it was on special offer. It's very good, but nearly all gone now and at full price, it's going to bankrupt me!

Any suggestions for other good cheap self-tanners? I am fairly low-maintenance, so ease-of-use is a must. All tips gratefully received!

Shop around for bargain prices
I usually use The Body Shop Self Tan, but at £10 a bottle, I can't afford it forever. I am also thinking of using L'Oreal Sublime because that product gets great reviews and although most places sell it at £10, Tesco sells it for just over £7!

Remember, the cheaper the self-tanner, the higher the risk of turning a nice shade of orange!

Cheap and cheerful
Boots 17 fake-tan is great for a night out as it leaves you lovely and brown (but a bit smelly!). Not sure if it lasts as long as the better ones but at less than a fiver it's good value for money.

Not a streak in sight
I used to use L'Oreal Sublime Bronze, (I preferred the gel to the lotion or spray) but now I use St Tropez. Even though it costs more, it really is so much better than the cheaper brands.

Both the L'Oreal and St Tropez brands left me streak-free, and they turned me a nice colour too. But L'Oreal used to go patchy in places after a few days, so you need to make sure you moisturise daily.

Tinted help
My favourite fake-tans at the moment are Virgin Vie Sunshine Skin and L'Oreal Sublime bronze tinted gel. Both of these products are tinted so you can see exactly where you are putting them and will give you a lovely natural colour in a couple of hours.

They both also blend very easily and you can get dressed about 15 minutes after putting them on. They last for about five days and both smell quite nice.

I am very pale and couldn't live without my fake tan!

For darker skins
Revlon self tan mousse is great for darker skins. Though it does smell a little afterwards. I've also heard that Ambre Solaire is good for darker skins too.
