Blow-dry dos and don'ts
Celebrity hairstylist Leo Bancroft reveals the secrets to achieving a salon blow-dry finish at home
- Don't attempt to blow-dry hair that is too wet. Use a towel to blot most of the moisture away.
- Don't assume that the highest heat and speed setting is going to work best for you. Sometimes it's worth dropping the heat to medium and slowing the speed for a professional-looking finish.
- When using a brush to get a straight finish, keep the airflow close to the brush and always point it downwards to get a smooth result.
- Use the cool temperature and a slow speed setting when diffusing. It helps curls and waves develop.
- Make sure hair is completely dry before you switch off the dryer. Whatever style you're creating, if it's not, you risk an attack of frizz as soon as you step outside.
