Party hair perfection
No matter what your hair length or texture, it's easy to get it looking groomed and glamorous for the party season, with these insider tips from our favourite hair gurus
Roll Up
'For a super quick up-do, put your hair in a ponytail and twist small sections into little rolls around your finger, leaving the ends free,' says Steven Goldsworthy, partner and creative director of Goldsworthy's Hairdressing. 'Secure each roll with a grip, fancy hairpin or clamp and fix with finishing spray.'
Fast Flash
Fancy a shot of colour for one night only? Hair Rehab London allows you to change length and thickness with its snap-in extensions which blend with your own hair for a glam look without damage. They're available in 15 multi-toned colours and four lengths: 14", 16", 18" and 20". Available from www.hairrehablondon.com
All that Jazz
'For medium or long wavy hair, mix serum with styling mousse and sculpt hair into natural waves, haphazardly pinning and clipping with diamante hair accessories,' suggests celebrity hairdresser Richard Ward. Alternatively, normal hairgrips structured together or criss-crossed make great hair accessories and look funky without being too glittery.
With the Band
Alice bands work really well with the beehives. Ultra-fine leather or textured versions pick up on a key trend for the season in a subtle way. 'Insert near the crown and back-brush hair instead of back-combing which can look too severe,' says Richard Ward. Or try the Tangle Teezer, (www.tangleteezer.com). It's simple to use, achieves fabulous back-combing and quickly removes any unwanted knots.
High and Dry
Bobby Collier of the graduate team at Daniel Galvin, offers his tips on achieving the perfect blow-dry: 'Towel-dry hair and apply a volumiser. Use Velcro, carbon or heated rollers to create bounce and curl - large rollers for bounce and smaller ones for curl - leave in while doing your make-up for maximum hold. Before taking them out, make sure the hair is absolutely dry and the rollers have cooled down, then blast with cool air from your drier to set. Finish with hairspray.
