Treating oily hair

question
I have fine, oily hair and many of the hair care products I use only seem to make it look worse. Can you help?

answer
Unfortunately, fine, thin hair is the most prone to looking oily. Try washing your hair daily with a mild shampoo that doesn't contain conditioners - usually labelled 'for oily hair' or 'clarifying' - these products will leave the least amount of residue on your hair. Afterwards, use a very light cream rinse or conditioner on just the ends of your hair (if necessary), and be sure to rinse it out thoroughly. Avoid all products containing silicone, oils or lanolin, as well as two-in-one products - these can be too heavy and oily for fine hair. During the day, comb your hair a few times to help redistribute oils and reduce thin hair's stringy appearance. Or, for a more serious case of oily locks, spritz a little water on your hair and blow-dry it using a comb to remove and redistribute oils - the heat of the dryer will make the oils easier to manipulate. Good luck.
