Salon etiquette

This may sound a bit stupid, but is there a tipping etiquette in beauty salons and hairdressers? I never know whether to leave a tip and if so how much should I leave?

answer

It is acceptable to tip £1 to the shampoo girl, and 10% to the hairdresser/beautician, rounding it up to £5 for anything below £50, and the next round number for anything above that. If you are really chuffed with the service, you can leave more.
