If you only have a few basics in your makeup bag, make sure you include these five essential items

	A Perfect World Intensely Hydrating Body Cream with White Tea, £25, Origins Smells delicious (think peaches and cream), is - as it says - intensely hydrating and chock-full of the potent antioxidant white tea. Feel virtuous and glamorous by applying a generous dollop after every shower. You can even use it on your face if you have any particularly dry areas. A real top-to-toe luxury. Great for: Smelling good enough to eat.
	Electelle Beautifying Lip Balm, £17.75, Gatineau Yes, for a lip balm it is a bit pricey. But it lasts ages, gives nude or lipsticked lips a subtle shimmer and has a slight plumping effect - and any residue left on your fingertips can be used to highlight cheekbones. Great for: Gals who take their lipcare seriously but prefer to look au naturel.
	Great Lash Mascara, £4.49, Maybelline Create sweeping, clump-free lashes with this bargain. The packaging may be a little naff, but it's a great product with a precise brush. Allows you to get to the inner and outer lashes without poking yourself in the eye, you can reapply for extra effect without clogging and it's virtually smudge-free. Great for: Fair lashes, as the fine brush allows you to get to root of the eyelash.
	Shea Butter, £10, the Body Shop A slightly less glam option than the Origins cream, but performs just as well. Has a thick texture - best for very dry skin - which means it takes a while to rub in. But it is worth the effort: 24 hours later, your skin will still feel moisturised without being greasy. An excellent way to combat the drying effects of summer sun. Great for: Banishing those annoying bumps on the tops of your arms - exfoliate first and apply generously.
	Divanora Radiant Colour Single Eyeshadow in Rose d'or No 60, £14, Guerlain This is a neutral shade of eye shadow that lends a hint of shimmer to the eyelid. It is great on its own for daywear and makes a great base for a more sultry look at night. Non-creasing, flattering for slightly more mature skin and long-lasting with its own little mirror in the compact. We like! Great for: Girls who like to apply eyeshadow with their fingertips.
