Never look tired again

Your hair looks as deflated as you feel and your face seems drawn. Here's some top-to-toe advice on breathing new life back into your looks
The right way to start your day
Rushing in the morning saps you of energy later on, so start getting some earlier nights and leave enough time in the morning for a refreshing shower. Lush's Happy Hippy Shower Gel (£2.25 / tel. 01202 668545), with pink grapefruit and bergamot can't fail to wake you up, while St Ives Energising Citrus Shower Wash (£1.99), with lime, tangerine and eucalyptus will help revive you, particularly if you have a cold. For bath lovers, the high concentration of minerals in Dead Sea salt can really help revitalise a weary body and many people swear it helps relieve aching joints. Malki's Dead Sea Bath Salts (£6.99) are worth trying. Massaging away dead skin cells with Normandie Keith's salt, kaolin and natural oils Hot Salt Detox Scrub (£9.97), will leave dry skin looking fresher and smoother. The heat it creates also helps boost circulation.Revive tired eyes
Just as eyedrops quickly restore the whites of your eyes, a fast-fixer for tired, sagging skin around them is the brilliant new Diva Deva Reverse Instant Wrinkle Remover, (£35 / www.divadeva.co.uk). Smooth a drop around your eyes to make lines less obvious and tighten up loose or puffy skin for up to eight hours. It even works over moisturiser. For every day under your make-up, try Clinique's All About Eyes (£20), a peachy, creamy gel with soothing rose, plus caffeine to help reduce puffiness. Brighten dark circles with a creamy, sheer, light-reflecting concealer like Bourjois Anti-Cerne Pour Matins anti-fatigue shadow Concealer (£6.50), or Botanics Wake Up Under Eye Concealer (£0.50) which both give YSL's Touche Eclat a run for its money.Perk up your complexion
Microdermabrasion kits are great for making your skin look polished, but if yours is sensitive, use a muslin cloth when cleansing and treat your skin once a week to a firming and nourishing mask. Montagne Jeunesse Plant Collagen Face Tonic (99p), is a cloth mask infused with seaweed extracts and collagen, and is a good re-energiser. Make-up artist Jemma Kidd says a pretty pink or soft red lipstick gives your face an instant lift and also recommends skin illuminators. 'Their light diffusing particles are perfect for revitalising tired, grey skin,' she says. Jemma's Dewy Glow All-Over Radiance Creme (£11), can be worn alone or under foundation.Give your hair a boost
'Have a new cut,' suggests international stylist Claudio Contrasti. 'If you've had the same style for ages, don't you think it's time for an update? A few layers, a change of parting or adding a fringe can make a difference and may knock years off you. Ask your hairdresser what colour changes would look good on your hair for winter - sometimes I add warm and cool tones through hair to add contrasting lights.' For hair that looks dull and flat, you can have two treatments in one visit with Wella's New Color Volume. As the name suggests, your hair can be coloured with the addition of extra volume which lasts 12 weeks. Beverly C, Creative Director at Essensuals, says: 'As curls and soft waves are in, this new treatment will be invaluable to create beautifully full and glamorous looking hair with the rich browns, radiant reds and ice blonde colours seen on the catwalks, all at the same time.'Moisturise dry hair and add a healthy gloss with regular deep conditioning treatments and for colour-fading hair that needs a boost, try John Frieda's new Luminous Colour Glaze (£6.99), a shine-booster with a hint of colour, to keep your hair looking vibrant.
Energising scents
Unless you want everyone around you to run in the opposite direction, perfume top-ups just won't cut it. The key to uplifting your senses is with a super-refreshing, lemony body spray, like Crabtree & Evelyn's Verbena & Sage Body Mist (£12.50), which you can use whenever you like.Diet hint
A lack of iron in your diet can leave you looking and feeling tired all the time. Green, leafy vegetables and eggs, as well as red meat, are good sources. 'Also avoid excess sugar,' warns beauty expert Shenaz Shariff. 'A glucose (sugar) molecule damages a protein molecule by sticking to it, resulting in collagen damage in your skin. Wrinkles form and skin begins to sag, making it appear tired.'
