How to remove nail varnish

question
What’s the best way to remove nail varnish?

answer
Wrap a cotton wool pad around an orange stick (a thin, pointed stick) and cover it with remover. Then gently remove the varnish from your nail, getting as little remover as possible on the cuticle. Using an orange cuticle stick is beneficial since it stops you covering the whole cuticle in remover – avoiding dryness and cracking.

Choosing a Nail Polish Remover

There are many different kinds of removers to choose from. Those containing acetone will take off varnish quickly but can dry out your cuticles. You might have to use one of these, however, if you’re trying to remove bold, deep or bright shades of nail varnish. Non-acetone removers take longer to remove varnish and they dry the nail and cuticle as well. Gel remover is the best moisturising remover, but it takes quite a long time to actually remove the polish. Sometimes, your best bet is to go with an acetone-based remover that contains hydrating oils, such as lavender or aloe vera. These types of oils help neutralise the drying effects of acetone. At the same time, they may reduce the strong odour of the remover. Always clean your nails, then moisturise them with a rich hand cream or oil after removing varnish.
