Beach Body Beauty: Top beauty tips for fabulous, vibrant summer legs
Here's how to get your legs smooth, blemish free and evenly tanned, just in time for summer
Venus Vibrance's Exfoliation Expert, Dr. Jennifer Jones, says that, 'Shaving our legs is part of the exfoliation process, and should be seen as part of our overall skincare routine. The surface of the skin - the epidermis - is continuously renewing itself, with new cells formed approximately every three weeks.'
Jennifer continues: 'It's important that we use a shaving foam or gel that contains moisturiser when shaving, which will help soften the hairs, allowing easier shaving and - more importantly - to care for the skin. Just using soap and water can be very drying on the skin. The Venus Vibrance cartridge also contains new Moisture-Glide strips that release more lubrication during the shave to aid this process.'
Exfoliation and moisturising are crucial if you want to achieve an even, all-over sun tan. Your skin should be in tip-top condition and look vibrant before you 'go for your tan' so the result is a good, consistent all-over colour. Jennifer suggests that a good body moisturiser should be used regularly, especially after shaving, and a sunscreen should be applied to ensure protection against harmful UV rays.
How to get goddess legs from dry body brushing:
On dry skin, start with the soles of the feet. Brush the legs from feet to thighs using strong, sweeping movements - always brushing towards the heart from any point on the body. Concentrate on the lymphatic drainage points located behind the knees and towards the groin, to increase the flow of lymph and assist the drainage of toxins from the system. It's worth paying particular attention to the buttocks and the back of the thighs (areas prone to cellulite), to help break down fatty deposits beneath the surface of the skin.
Once you've 'brushed' the legs, continue upwards, working the brush gently over the midriff, sides and chest (avoiding the nipples), then brush up each arm, starting at the wrists.
