Being a London gent
Going in search of a touch of sophisticated ‘guy time’, not to mention the opportunity to relax and be pampered, Jesse Goodman stumbled upon The Gentleman’s Club Package at The Trafalgar, London, and was suitably impressed.
‘We arrived, in desperate need of some genuine relaxation, at the impressive Trafalgar, a four-star boutique hotel adjacent to London's famous Trafalgar Square. I’ve always been a stickler for first impressions and I have to say, the service we received at reception was impeccable.
After dropping off our bags, we decided the time was right for a trip to the rooftop bar, where we were served cocktails and were able to take in a truly spectacular view of London’s skyline. Being generally a low-rise city, we could see for miles around and the early winter evening punctuated by glinting city lights created a stunning backdrop to our stay.
We dined in the Rockwell Restaurant, an elegant and, at a capacity of 48, suitably intimate venue. The food was very much in keeping with the surroundings: big on style and taste with all the ingredients locally-sourced. I opted for the shrimp and pork belly and topped it off with a deliciously decadent chocolate panna cotta.
Our room was, as you might expect, luxurious, complete with wide-screen TV and DVD player, laptop safe, stereo system and triple-glazed windows to keep the constant hustle and bustle of London at bay. Indeed, the serenity of our room, combined with our perfect view of Trafalgar Square and the ever-changing scenery of this iconic London landmark created the perfect city sanctuary.
As part of the Gentleman’s Club Package, we received two bottles of Champagne and some divine chocolate brownies with strawberries, which, despite our hearty dinner, we somehow managed to make disappear!
The bathroom was sizeable with an incredible range of bath and grooming products. From oils and ointments, to massage creams and bath salts, everything a guy needs to look and feel fabulous.
Suffice to say, we had a very restful night’s sleep and after watching the early-morning world go by for a while, headed down to the breakfast buffet, where we found a wide range of English and Continental options. We could also order anything that wasn’t on the buffet menu, the staff accommodating our every gentleman’s whim.
Situated around 400 metres from Charing Cross Station and with Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus tube stations a matter of minutes away, The Trafalgar is an ideal location for a West End sojourn and the Gentleman’s Club Package comes highly-recommended!’
