Birth: the good, the bad and the ugly
Super-fast delivery
I’d been moaning that baby would never come out. I'd prodded my belly a little that night saying my usual ‘Come on baby, when are you coming out’. I woke up and had a pain, it was 12.01am. I woke DF up at 12.25am, realising the pains I'd had were every five minutes. We left for the hospital at 1am. By the time we got upstairs to the delivery suite the pains were coming one to two minutes apart - and they bl**dy hurt!

I got into the delivery room at 1.30am and was given my gas and air! Bliss! Apparently I pushed three times, the first broke the waters, with the second the head was out and with the third baby was born - at 2.12am! Read the rest of fairydust-sharon’s story on Mums' Club August 2009.

Watery homebirth
The boys were both asleep upstairs and DH phoned his mum to come over for when they woke up. Around 7am I got in the pool, the warmth and buoyancy of the water was wonderful. As I was pushing I felt my waters break and then it wasn't long before I could feel that baby was sitting there ready to come out. I breathed the head out and then with one final push I felt the body slip out.IMAGE CREDITS:- Getty images
I announced, “it's a boy!” and he was handed to me. I was besotted from the moment I saw him. I stayed in the pool having my first cuddle with Finlay while DH went upstairs to tell the boys that they had a new baby brother and brought them down to meet him. Having an epidural
My anaesthetist was a lovely man and talked me through everything, although quite frankly by this point he could have told me he was chopping both my legs off and I wouldn’t have cared. I had no fear whatsoever of anything he was doing as the pain of the contractions overshadowed everything else.IMAGE CREDITS:- Getty images
They told me to start pushing. I pushed with all my might whenever I felt my next contraction coming and must admit I felt a bit stupid giving it so much welly but not actually being able to feel a thing. At some point someone gave me an episiotomy, totally painless thankfully. With a few more assisted pushes my beautiful baby was born. Read the rest of ramakin’s story on the Birth Story board.

Induction experiences
After changing my mind over and over about where to have Matthew, the decision was taken out of my hands. Because he was 14 days overdue, I had to go to hospital to be induced.IMAGE CREDITS:- Getty images
I still had a really positive experience though, I was induced at 10.15am and he was born at 9.51pm, with only gas and air for pain relief.

Delivery in the car!
We headed for the hospital, which is only about four miles away so we thought we had plenty of time! About two minutes into the journey I felt an almighty urge to push - to my husband’s horror!

- He just shouted at me and said that wasn’t an option and I replied back, "oh yes it is!" and with that I pushed and the baby came out!Read the full story on the Birth Stories board.IMAGE CREDITS:
