Bling table top decor
I have just confirmed the order of crystal trees for my wedding reception - I have 10 tables in total to account for which aren’t going to have floral displays on them and that is because Elise from Crystal Tree Boutique is setting up her lovely 5ft Crystal trees on each table. I started researching this idea after seeing something on Four Weddings (Yes, it’s a guilty pleasure!) and found out about Elise’s company by going online. She’s relatively new but has been inundated with enquires and bookings form brides all keen to get the bling look for their weddings too. Because it’s a completely new concept in the UK, I thought I’d sneak in a quick interview with Elise here in case you are looking for alternative centre pieces too...
When did you set up your business?
Elise Brothwell: Crystal Tree Boutique was set up in February 2008. It was my daughter Amy’s business but she is expecting our second grandchild so I took over the company and we’ll be working together once she’s had the baby and is back at work.
How did your first wedding go?
Elise: As the company is so new and we had never done anything like it before, it was a little nerve racking to say the least. We spent what seemed like hours dressing two trees, we were so determined for the bride, groom and guests to love them. Even today I still get nervous and spend a lot of time dressing the trees - I’m a perfectionist and they have to be spot on. However we’ve had almost 100 per cent feed back of guests and wedding couples loving them so we needn’t have worried so much.
Where did you get the idea for setting the company up?
Elise: It was Amy’s idea. She was getting married and didn’t want all the same traditional things for her centre pieces. One day she came across someone who was hiring crystal trees for weddings. Amy met with her and fell in love with the trees. There wasn’t anyone else in the UK hiring them out and after the feedback from the wedding we decided to look into it as a business idea. However, the trees are not cheap and it took ages for us to source the right ones for our business. We ordered a few to start with and it has grown from there.
What type of weddings do you really love to do?
Elise: I love all weddings as they all signify the same thing - love and celebration. It’s a good atmosphere being surrounded by brides! Asian weddings are really fun to do too as they always seem more regal Everything is done on a larger scale.
What plans have you got for 2011?
Elise: We’re looking to expand vastly in 2011 - our supplier is finding it hard to keep up with our demand! I’ve also started hiring out large silver candelabras with or without crystals on them too as part of the collection. I’ll be doing a few wedding fairs across the country and charity events.
