Cervical cancer jab: a right to refuse?
A Catholic school in Greater Manchester has banned pupils from receiving the cervical cancer jab. Do you agree with the decision or do you think they are putting young girls at risk?
Get the facts about the cervical cancer jab
Governors at St Monica's High School in Prestwich have voiced concerns about the possible side effects of the injections.
Their refusal to implement the vaccination programme has also raised questions about the moral issues - i.e. acknowledging that girls under the legal age of consent (and unmarried) may be having sex and therefore require adequate protection.
The jab is currently being offered to every female pupil aged 12-13 (year 8) and, it is hoped, will save hundreds of lives every year.
Would you be happy to have your daughter receive the vaccination? Should schools have the right to deny their pupils the chance to have the jab?
