HOW TO PULL AT A CHRISTMAS PARTY

What not to do

DON'T hang around with your mates
A party pull has to be a solo operation. Men are terrified by girl gangs. In the male mind, two girls together counts as a girl gang.

DON'T delay
If you see someone you want to talk to, don't procrastinate, especially if you've made eye contact. That moment will be gone faster than the last prawn vol au vent.

DON'T be a show-off
Don't brag about your job, your travels or whatever. He'll find you far more interesting if you let him brag about himself; it's what men do. Don't even think about mentioning your car or your salary, especially if you're chatting up a banker. You might make him cry.

DON'T admit that you're nervous
The art of the chat-up is basically the art of acting confident when, inside, you're dying like a jelly in the rain. Don't say that you're nervous, or even make a joke of it. The more confident you act, the more confident you'll feel.

DON'T outstay your welcome
He knows you're interested, so you don't have to push it. Your job now is to leave him wanting more. Ask for his number, vanish into the night and text him the next day to say hi. He won't be able to resist.

DON'T try to pull your boss
Getting cute with Headmaster at the office party could, at best, get you the sack when he dumps you. At worst, it'll get you the sack for coming onto him in the first place.

DON'T expect a call after snogging a Casanova
Heartthrob men are easy to pull, because they are sluts. However they make terrible boyfriends, so use them for sex and don't expect a call the next day.

DON'T target the office geek
You may think he's easy prey, but the shy guy can be one of the most difficult guys to pull. Don't waste your time, even if you think he's sex on skinny legs. He has no idea how to read your signals or reciprocate them. If you're determined, come on strong and mention Star Trek.
