Cold feet? Maybe it's the Uggs
Winter's certainly hit us hard. I’m wearing so many layers I look like the Michlelin man! To be honest I hate the cold, all I want to do is stay in my bed, so when I do venture out I look like I’ve piled on 30 kilos I'm so wrapped up!
In keeping with current trends and weather conditions you will have noticed loads of fur on the streets. A lot of the high street stores are stocking aviator or deerstalker style fur-trim hats which are proving very popular and practical. In contrast, I’ve also noticed a few people making the mistake of wearing Uggs in the snow!?! - Really silly! It’s like wearing two sponges on your feet, they absorb all water! As for the pictures of *massively* underdressed Geordie girls which flooded last week's tabloids - if I was to see women walking down the street half naked all I would want to do is put a duvet or a very thick jacket over them, I couldn’t think of anything worse! Sure, girls want to look sexy - but if you go out like that you’re going to end up with hypothermia, so weigh up what’s more important - your health or looking good!
Rant over, I went to an event last week for Fair Trade Cotton’s fifth anniversary. As an ambassador I was there to unveil our portraits taken by Trevor Leighton, so I did a few interviews and what-not. I'm in good company, Trevor Leighton also shot Lisa b, Laura Bailey, and Misca Paris (to name a few) for the campaign. I’m wearing a sheet, Laura Bailey has got a very wet cotton t-shirt on... it’s actually done very classily, honest! You can see a sneek-peak of my pic on the left, for the full collection visit Fairtrade.org.uk.
I also did a shoot recently for my Long Tall Sally S/S 11 collection. That was a lot of fun, as ever. I've been designing my own collections for the brand for three years now, and they seem to do rather well. Although it might be hard to think about Spring right now, keep your eyes peeled for the new collection when it hits the shops! And let me know what you think...
Last Sunday the kids and I attended Frock Me Vintage at Chelsea town hall - it was a massive sale of an assortment of clothing dating from 1900 to the 80s, from £2 up. I thought that was a must! We’ve also ventured over to Winter Wonderland recently, a real seasonal highlight in the capital, there’s a Bavarian fair with german sausages and mulled wine - perfect for picking up little stocking fillers.
I’m off to Bali for Christmas so i've been uber organised and got all my shopping done early. I grew up there so I’m going to introduce my kids to where I grew up, I've absolutely nothing planned bar a bit of furniture shopping for my new house! Bliss! And because I'll be swanning about in a bikini I’m doing a massive detox. I’ve started using Weleda's Detox range, consisting of a tonic to drink every morning, an oil to rub into my dimply thights and a body scrub. The tonic tastes quite bitter because it's made with birch but you can swallow it, some of these things taste so vile you think you’re going to throw up! You can find out more about the range at Weleda.co.uk.

Product of the week: Since I won't be wearing my Uggs in the cold, rain and snow I've been on the hunt for a decent pair of wellies. I've seen a lot of people sporting those Jimmy Choo ones which I don't want because: one) they're incredibly expensive, and two) everyone’s got them. So when I came across the very cool and brand new Muddz - www.muddz.co.uk - I just had to get some. As soon as my kids saw the unique boots they fell in love with them, I got one with a diamante crown on the side and the other has a sort of diamante cuff at the bottom. And having received their delivery I can confirm they look amazing! -->
<-- It's all about the boots this week, and since the extreme weather hit early this year I thought I should get a pair of snow boots, so I've got myself a pair of Kate Kuba Rubber ducks. There are three styles in the range, mine are made of a patent leathery material and reach mid-calf. They're £90 and since I’m only going to wear them in the winter time they won't be replaced for a good few years. A fine investment I think! Head over to Katekuba.co.uk to check out the styles.
Until next week, take care. And wrap up warm please! x
