29 April: Guests begin to arrive

08:45: The general congregation begin to gather at Westminster Abbey as Kate's little brother James Middleton sets off from the Goring Hotel in Belgravia, where Kate Spent the night.

29 April: The colourful congregation

08:20: Guests are still arriving at Westminster Abbey. These poor folk have to enter through the Great North door - the entrance for the less important guests. Embarrassing.

Apparently the West Door is where it's at.

29 April: Working the crowd

08:20: An over-excited clergy man has his moment in the limelight showing off the order of service to the crowd.

What a tease.

29 April: Heeeeere's the Beckhams!

08:50: It's the moment we've all been waiting for - the arrival of Britain's other Royal couple, David and Victoria Beckham. And they can't resist a quick round of the blinking game.

We wonder who won.

29 April: Wax Spice?

Dave reassures concerned onlookers that he hasn't replaced his wife with a stand-in mannequin. 'Look, she's got the baby bump and everything!'

29 April: Erm...what?

08:50: How does one distract onlookers from one's collapsed septum? Blind them with an electric blue outfit originally made for space travel.

10:00: More guests arrive at Westminster Abbey including Elton John and husband David Furnish, and Prince William look-a-like Ben Fogle with his wife.

29 April: The ex

Prince Harry's ex girlfriend Chelsy Davy arrives looking a little solemn. What is it about the man who used to buy £1,000 diamond and gold bracelettes for Christmas that she misses, we wonder?

Still, it was actually her decision to end things with Harry and return to her family in South Africa at the beginning of the year. In a recent poll we found that 60% of iVillagers would choose to marry Harry over Wills so we can't help thinking the little ginger blighter could do better.

29 April: The Management

10:05: Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and leader of the opposition Ed Miliband arrive at Westminster Abbey.

Cameron cleverly had us all on tenterhooks when it was suggested he might not be wearing a morning suit.

But in the end he did.

29 April: The Princes arrive

10:15: Wills and Harry arrive at Westminster Abbey to deafening cheers from the crowd, and don't they look dashing.

They then go off for a 'private chat'. Apparently Harry forgot to ask Wills whether he wanted brown sauce or ketchup to be served with the midnight bacon butties at the disco tonight.

29 April: Mother of the Bride

10:16: The bride's mum Carole Middleton follows the boys. She wears a pretty powder blue coat designed by Catherine Walker in a tribute to Princess Diana who often cited Walker as her favourite designer.

29 April: Erm....what? #2

It's a sight to behold. First Tara Palmer Tomkinson glues a small boat to her forehead and now Princess Beatrice dips her head in a royal crest and comes up with this gravity defying ribbon formation.

It's Philip Treacy but that doesn't make it OK.

10:45: 'Come along dear' says Prince Charles to his wife Camilla as she laps up the frenzy of adoration for the Royal family before heading into Westminster Abbey.

29 April: The Queen arrives

10:45: "Lovely to be here. And what do you do?"

29 April: Pippa in McQueen

11:09: Kate's younger sister and Maid of Honour Pippa Middleton arrives wearing a beautiful Sarah Burton at Alexanda McQueen gown. They scrub up well, those Middletons.

29 April: Here comes the bride

11:03: And she certainly ain't fat and wide. She is thin and beautiful.

29 April: The fast train

In a much-anticipated nod to austerity, Kate flaunts the fact that she needs only one helper to hold her dress train which measured a less than 3 metres compared to Princess Diana's 7.6 metre long train.

29 April: First look

Prince William is reunited with his wife-to-be. He whispers in her ear 'you look beautiful' before leaning over to tell Mr Middleton to quip that it was only meant to be a small family affair.

29 April: The couple exchange rings

11:18: Altogether now....'aaaaaaahhhh!'

29 April: They did it!

11:20: 'I now pronounce you husband and wife' says the Archbishop after a series of dramatic pauses which confused both Kate and Wills into saying 'I will' a little prematurely.

But that's OK, we still have a little lump in our throats. Conrgratulations Kate and Willam.

29 April: Mischief personified

They're up to something. Maybe they've stuck a post-it on Camilla's back saying 'I love horses' or they're simply giggling at the prospect of associating with the lowly - an idea put forward by Kate's brother James Middleton in his reading.

29 April: The bit where they get jaw-ache from smiling too much

12:14: The cheery newly weds make their way from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace, waving and smiling the whole way to their adoring fans.

And you thought smiling for your wedding photos was hard...

29 April: The dress

So let's take a closer look at the dress. Designed by Sarah Burton, the late Alexander McQueen's right-hand woman, it's a beautifully elegant white gown with delicate chantilly lace sleeves and gently sweeping skirt and train with floral detail.

Sarah Burton says on Twitter “Catherine looked absolutely stunning today, & the team at McQueen are very proud of what we have created". And by the sounds of it, it's being universally admired...

13:06: No room to swing a cat on The Mall as crowds gather to witness the kiss.

29 April: The Kiss

13:33: 'Make it stooop!' cries the poor little flower girl to the left of the now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge having their first public smooch.

We didn't have Wills down as a noisy kisser, so the ear-clamping might have had something to do with the roaring fly-past.

29 April: Said fly-past...

And to be fair, it was loud. We heard the planes pass overhead at iVillage towers in central London.

29 April: Keeping it in the family?

Lip-reading experts tell us that following The Kiss, William turns to his brother to say 'Harry - your go'. At this point Pippa Middleton spots a crumb on the floor that she'd rather look at.

29 April: Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!

Catherine and William make their way to a slap-up lunch at Buckingham Palace followed by a party organised by Prince Harry, and we wave a fond farewell to the happy couple...
