Crochet a ruffled neckwarmer

Looking for something practical and original? This crocheted neck warmer makes a change from the trusty scarf and is a great way of using up leftover wool. The simple pattern can be applied to different textures and colourways, and the choice of button can make for understated chic or statement accessory.

You will need

- 1 x 100g/146m ball Stylecraft Brushstrokes - Rose Blush

- A 5.5mm crochet hook

- A large button

Foundation row Ch 139 sts using 5.5mm hook

Row 1: Dc 1 into 2nd ch, dc 1 into each ch to end of row.

Row 2: Ch 2, tr 1 in to each dc to end of row.

Row 3: Ch 1, dc 1 in next 8 tr, * ch 4, miss 3tr, dc 1 into next 14 tr; rep from * to last 11 tr, ch 4, 1 dc into 8 tr.

Row 4: Ch 3, skip 1st dc, dc 1into next 3 dc, ch 1, (dc 1, ch 1) 6 times into the 4 ch space, miss 3 dc, dc 1 into next 3 dc, * ch 3, miss 2 dc, dc 1into next 3 dc, ch 1, (dc 1, ch 1) 6 times into the 4 ch space, miss 3 dc, dc 1 into next 3 dc; rep from * to last 2 dc, ch 1, htr 1.

Row 5: Ch 1, dc 1 into htr, ch 2, (1 bobble into next ch sp, ch 2) 7 times, * dc 1into next 3 ch sp, (1 bobble into next ch sp, ch 2) 7 times, ;* rep from * to last 3 ch, miss 1 ch, dc 1 into next ch.

Row 6: Ch 1, dc 1 into 1st dc, dc 2 into 1stch 2 sp, dc 1 into the top of 1st bobble, dc 2into next 2 ch sp, (ch 3, dc 2 into next sp) twice, ch 5, (dc 2 into next ch sp, ch 3) twice, dc 2 into next sp, dc 1 into the top of the bobble, dc 2 into next sp, * miss 1 dc, dc 2 into next sp, dc 1 into top of bobble, dc 2into next 2 ch sp, (ch 3, dc 2 into next sp) twice, ch 5, (dc 2 into next ch sp, ch 3) twice, dc 2 into next sp, dc 1 into the top of the bobble, dc 2 into next sp; rep from * to last dc, dc 1into last dc.

Fasten off the yarn.

Add the button to one end.

I made this scarf but had to improvise for those areas that were not clear. My variation turned out well, but the pattern is not complete.
This pattern is not written correctly, and does not appear to be available at simply knitting. iVillage should do the honorable thing and take it down.

I am trying to make this scarf and Row 5 isn't coming out right.  You need to explain your version of a "bobble", cuz the bobble directions I got from a book does not look like the picture and 7 of them do not fit well in the chain sp.

Do you have any corrections for this pattern?
