What can I eat after 5pm?

question
I'd like to know what foods I can eat after 5pm? I work and have a family to feed and teatime is our main meal but I'm having trouble deciding what I can eat. I've been doing the no carbs after 5pm diet for one week and have three more to go. I have lost 8lb so far - is it normal to lose so much at once and will the loss slow down through the month?

answer
It often happens that at the beginning of a new diet you experience quick weight loss especially when reducing your carb intake. Remember that your 8lb loss will be a combination of water and fat as the body can only lose 2lbs of fat in one week.

Make sure that you are including some protein with your evening meal as this helps you feel fuller for longer, e.g. white fish, oily fish, chicken, turkey, pork, eggs, beans and pulses and top up the plate with a selection of vegetables, aiming to make them as colourful as possible to give you a range of nutrients and flavours.

Try dark green leafy vegetables, peas, mange tout, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and sweet potato. If you don't already have one, it's worth investing in a bamboo steamer, they are about £10 and vegetables take less than 10 minutes to cook. Well done for sticking with it.
