Cheap tips for keeping fit
I can't afford any of my local gyms and the cottage I live in has very low ceilings so I cannot do workout videos - I haven't done any proper exercise for over two years. Do you have any suggestions for getting fit that don't cost a packet?
To get fit without spending money you should start with a walking or jogging programme. Begin at the weekends and if possible incorporate it into your routine during the week. On your way to work or the shops, either get off at an earlier bus stop and walk the rest of the way - or park the car further away than normal. Do the easy things first - take the stairs whenever possible, not the lift or escalators. Avoid sitting down all day at a desk. Walk during lunch times - even when just popping to the shops - put on your trainers and walk with purpose. Try swimming - or even a fun water aerobics session. A local leisure centre keeps its costs down, so a session there (take a friend for a laugh), should not be expensive. Or you could even earn extra money by dog walking!
