Tone It And Own It: Body And Soul Week 1

Hello to the Body And Soul members and welcome to week 1. We've got a gentle diet and fitness plan from personal trainer Joslyn Thompson, designed to help you get calm, centred and toned
This month we are going to look at the very important link between taking care of both Body and Soul to awaken a fabulous new you! For the next 28 days we will take a balanced approach to your health and fitness goals, focusing on motivation, eating smart, exercise, and keeping both stress-free and calm - the perfect recipe for lasting change.
Focusing on what your body needs to look fabulous, rather than punishing it, is a sure fire way to really tone it and own it! Who wants to live on lettuce leaves, for the sake of squeezing into those skinny jeans?
This Body and Soul month allows you to take a break and zone in on you. All you need is some comfortable workout gear, a good pair of trainers and the desire to look and feel fab.
It's a time to accept yourself - wobbly bits, smooth bits, ok bits, and odd bits. You've heard the saying that you've got to love yourself, before anyone else can and it's true.
If you can change it, then focus on how you will change it - we will look at this in our goal setting session tomorrow. If you can't change it, then just accept it, and spend your time and energy on what you can change rather than what you can't.
Let's get started:
- List three things that you love about your body
- List three things that you dislike about your body
- Can you change any of the three things you dislike about your body? If so, make a note of them, and save them up for our goal setting session. If not, then you know what to do, love them, and move on!
By the way, those three things that you love about yourself...write them down and read them every day as a reminder of the positive new relationship you have with yourself!
Goal setting is so important in achieving your health and fitness goals. Without knowing where you want to get to, you have no idea of the journey that you should take.
Try these simple steps to get you started on the fitness road to fabulousness:
- What do I want to achieve with my health and fitness? Be specific here, the desire to 'lose weight' or 'tone up' isn't enough
- What will I feel like when this happens? This is very you focused, it's got to have meaning for you, it's not about anyone else
- How will I know when this has happened? What benchmark will you look for to know that your goal has been achieved?
- Who can I get to assist me with my goal? Look for a support network to keep you moving in the right direction
- When do I want to achieve this goal? Set yourself a time period within which to achieve your goal
- What is the first step I need to take? This can be a very small action, to start you on the road to fabulousness!
- How will I reward myself when I have achieved my goal? Women very often forget to pat themselves on the back for their achievements, so make sure you choose a treat to reward yourself for all of your efforts!
