How do you reward yourself without food? Here's how iVillagers do it.
- Pamper yourself.
I have my nails manicured and colour my hair. - Take a day off.
I let myself be lazy on Saturday. My dear husband pampers me, and I sleep in. - Get a massage.
I treat myself to a 30-minute appointment with a massage therapist. - Take a holiday.
My husband and I seldom get a chance to be alone, so this weekend we packed off the children with Auntie and went away. We did some shopping, saw a really good film and went for a long leisurely moonlit walk. I came home re-energised and happy to see my children. - Relax in the bath.
I prepare myself luxurious baths, with soft music and scented candles to make a relaxed atmosphere. Sometimes I use herbal concoctions or organic orange peels in my bath water. Then I slip into the bath for relaxation and therapeutic time alone. - Phone a friend.
I call my Mum on the phone. Email is really great (on the long distance bill), but sometimes I just need to hear her voice. Sounds funny coming from a 46-year-old, but it really is true. - Shop.
I shop for myself. - Set aside alone time.
I have a friend who says that every morning, after making breakfast and getting the children ready for school, she grabs her mug of coffee and goes to her bedroom to read for 15 minutes. No one is allowed to interrupt her. She calls it her 'private stress-free time', and her husband ensures that she is not interrupted.
