Help! I gained nearly four stones during my pregnancy and have been faithfully working out three to five times a week since my son turned nine months old. I want to lose ten pounds but am a hopeless dieter — I’ve tried several diets in the past with no success. I now weigh ten stone and two pounds. Do you have any suggestions for someone with no willpower?

Like most chronic dieters, you're experiencing an up-and-down pattern in your weight as a result of your endless cycle of crash diets. Dieting slows your metabolism, deprives you of valuable nutrients and leaves you feeling dehydrated and mentally unfocused. The result is often cravings and, as you put it, loss of willpower.
