Sandwich-free lunch

by Dr Wynnie Chan

question
I'd like some advice on what to eat for lunch instead of having a sandwich, as this tends to make me feel bloated. Can you suggest an alternative that's also low in carbohydrates?

answer
There are many tasty and low-fat alternatives to a sandwich lunch. For example, soups with a small piece of bread can be very filling; leafy salads with grilled chicken breast, tuna (canned in spring water), salmon or marinated tofu are low in calories and excellent for increasing your fibre intake; raw vegetables with hummus dip and low-fat cheese are another great lunchtime treat. One of my personal favourites is French bean salad with toasted pine nuts and balsamic vinaigrette.
