Imagine genuinely loving your job. Imagine earning good money for work which involves meeting lots of new people, having fun and keeping active. Imagine what a sense of achievement you'd feel by helping to motivate others to achieve their goals and to feel good about themselves? Job satisfaction doesn't get better than that!

Most people come into the fitness industry because they are already keen on keeping fit and healthy and are attracted by the fact they can get paid for doing something they love.

Personality and attitude are often thought of as important as knowledge and skills when recruiting into fitness jobs. So, if you're a sociable person with plenty of energy and enthusiasm for fitness, there's no reason why you shouldn't have a successful career ahead of you in this exciting and thriving industry.

Getting basic skills
The most common way to launch a career in fitness is to complete a course with a leisure training provider that is recognised by REPs (Register of Exercise Professionals).

The Register has been set up to help safeguard and promote the health and interests of people who are using the services of fitness instructors, teachers and trainers. It requires professionals to work within a Code of Ethical Practice and anybody launching a career in fitness should become a member of REPs.
