Wine of the week: Steenberg Semillon Constantia
There are some great quality wines coming out of South Africa these days, and Waitrose have recently added an impressive new Cape wine to their list: Steenberg Semillon 1999 Constantia.
Produced from the cool vineyards situated on the slopes of Table Mountain near Cape Town, this is a really classy number. Its aged in French oak and therefore has rich vanilla overtones. And while its dry, its still relatively full bodied.
Its well worth its price tag of £7.99, as it tastes like a £10-plus bottle. Try it with equally full-bodied dishes such as char-grilled chicken, fish or vegetables, and smoked chicken or duck.
