Jolly good show

Throw a bagel in Birmingham this weekend and you'll be sure to hit a celebrity chef. No, it's not some strange new sport, but the return of the annual BBC Good Food Show

Jamie, AWT, Ainsley and Oz are just some of the big names you can see at this year's BBC Good Food Show. The biggest food and drink event of the year, the GFS runs from Wednesday 28th November to Sunday 2nd December at the Birmingham NEC and is a must for any lover of good food.

This year's highlights include:

  • the world's largest purpose-built chef demonstration theatre, where cookery voyeurs can watch the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Rick Stein and the ubiquitous Jamie Oliver at work
  • wine tasting sessions hosted by Oz Clarke and Robert Joseph
  • informal cookery masterclasses, where visitors can prepare dishes alongside top culinary professionals, and
  • more food and drink samples than you could ever consume in a day

There will also be the usual food, drink and kitchenware exhibitors - this year over 400 - and a new Food from Britain area, offering the country's best local food produce.

Tickets for the event can be bought by calling 0870 902 0555 (call 0800 378 985 for groups of 10 or more) or by visiting www.bbcgoodfoodshow.co.uk Prices start at £13 (£11.50 concessions).

A quick tip: If you want to avoid the hordes of school kids that usually plague the Show, visit on the Wednesday, when no school parties are being admitted.
