Ice-cream Eyeballs in Blood-clot Sauce

A diabolical dessert to end a perfect Halloween dinner

Dish Details:kidclock

INGREDIENTS:

500g mixed berries (such as raspberries and blackcurrants; frozen will do if fresh not available)
50g sugar
100ml water
12 scoops vanilla ice-cream
12 round jelly sweets (to look like eyes)

PREPARATION:
1. Clean the berries, if fresh, under running water. Place in a saucepan with the sugar and water.

2. Bring to the boil, stirring occasionally. Turn the heat down and simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove and cool. Chill until required.

3. To serve, use an ice-cream scoop to form two 'eyeballs' of ice-cream. Place side by side in a bowl and press the jelly sweets on top to look like irises. Drizzle the pulped fruit around the eyeballs. Tell the children that the dark fruity bits are blood clots.

Variation: You can make the eyes blood-shot by sqeezing over thin streaks of bottled raspberry sauce.
