Mulled cider

Gather your friends and family to celebrate the festive season in style but without breaking the bank. For a really warm welcome, get your party started by greeting guests with a steaming cup of apple-scented mulled cider

INGREDIENTS:

Mulled ciderOne litre Merrydown Medium Vintage Cider
Splash of dark rum (optional)
4 cups of fruity herbal tea - orangey flavours go well
1 tbsp soft brown sugar
2 clementines
4 or 5 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 fresh bay leaves
4 cardamon pods


PREPARATION:
Pour the Merrydown into a large saucepan. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved over a gentle heat. Stud each clementine with the cloves, then cut the fruit in half and add to the pan along with the cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and cardamom pods

Heat until the almost boiling then ladle into heatproof glasses with handles
