Sophie Grigson and her classic Autumn recipes
Award-winning cookery writer Sophie Grigson shares some of her classic recipes to ease us into the colder Autumn months
Sophie Grigson is the daughter of the prolific cookery writer Jane Grigson. With such a famous foodie mother, it was natural that Sophies upbringing would revolve around cooking and food. But she had no intention of following in her mothers footsteps she studied Maths at university and worked in pop video production for a while.
Slowly, however, her love for cooking took over her life. Fascinated by small ethnic food shops in Manchester and Portobello Road in London, Sophie began experimenting in her cooking and discovered a natural talent for writing about the food she loved. She wrote her first newspaper article in 1983 Fifty Ways with Potatoes and has since built a reputation as one of Britains most talented and best loved food writers and broadcasters. In 2001, she was voted the Guild of Food Writers Cookery Journalist of the Year.
Best known for her books on vegetables, herbs, meat and fish, Sophies writing reflects a deep-rooted passion for the people she meets and the culinary traditions of the places she visits. Her latest book, The Complete Sophie Grigson Cookbook (BBC Worldwide, £12.99) is a collection of over 440 classic recipes drawn from some of her 16 best-selling books, and draws together old fashioned family favourites and exotic dishes from around the world.
Youll find an eclectic mixture of recipes, says Sophie, including simple, classic British dishes and souvenirs from trips around the Mediterranean. I hope that youll enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed rediscovering them.
The Complete Sophie Grigson Cookbook can be ordered online from www.amazon.co.uk
