Fortnightly shoe buying? I don't think so!
Happy New Year everyone. I know it is a little belated, but I do hope you had a great festive time.
It’s fair to say Lucas enjoyed his first Christmas - if you can call it that, being like every other day for him!
He had, at this age of course, no interest in the presents, all he wanted to do was pull the Christmas tree decorations off and the tree over. We put the tree up quite late as we knew this would be the case, as he can’t leave anything alone. He is such a busy baby.
So the tree went up on Christmas Eve and the family descended on Christmas Day. We had a great day and took lots of photos. I am very much looking forward though to when he believes in Father Christmas and the day means more to him, but I am not wishing the time away as it is going fast enough already!
So the New Year has started and I cannot believe he is One next month. I had purposely left arranging his birthday until after Christmas to get that out of the way and thinking I have loads of time. I don’t. The dilemma is where to have it and it seems like it will be at our house. The list for invitees though goes near 30, with no-one on that list really able to miss off! You know, you try and cut back to limit numbers because with that amount of people in the house it will be busy, but you just can’t!?
I am looking into venues that could host it and do food, nice and easy then, but I have a feeling it will end up at ours and the week before will be mad with food trips and making sure we have enough food, drinks and decorations! Already the year has started busy year for me work wise and is only going to get busier, but I want the people that matter to enjoy Lucas’s first birthday, again though, another day that will pass him by at this age!
In terms of himself, Lucas is grand. He has started trying to run as his walking is brilliant now. There are many times it looks like he is heading to crash into something but does a cheeky turn at the end and swerves away! He is all over the place and really does enjoy exploring. He began walking at just over nine-months-old and over the last few weeks has become stronger.
We looked into proper walking shoes for him now he is mobile all the time and he nearly fell over when we got his feet measured, the store assistant said the shoes we wanted were £22 and we should go every two weeks to get his feet measured! 'Are you crazy?' I felt like saying to the lady, but of course didn’t! And no... we didn’t buy those shoes. Maybe when he is a little older.
Now that the little man is mobile, we saw Chico’s sit ‘n’ ride car and thought it was a must have. It offers four play modes to follow baby’s growth: The Rocker - suitable for small children, thanks to its stable rocking base, safety bar and harness; Push ‘n’ Go - with removable footrest, safety harness and practical parent handle; Push ‘n’ Walk - featuring a handy support for baby’s first steps and Sit ‘n’ Ride - foot powered car with an activity centre that can be used in each configuration of play. It can also be removed from the car, so that baby can play with it at its pleasure.
With it’s fun activity centre on the steering wheel it is going to be a wonderful way for Lucas to develop motor skills, coordination and keeping him very active!
