Guess the body part
By Susanne Remic on 08 Dec 2011
Last night, I couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t nightmares or feeling uncomfortable or anything like that. I was just awake, unable to switch off my mind yet unwilling to give in and get up. So I played a game of guess the body part.
Have you played this game yet? It’s best when you’re lying on your back (although I can’t do this for long as I quickly get out of breath) and you need to use the flat of your hand. Oh, and you also need to be pregnant. Otherwise, it could be a whole different game, but let’s not go there.
Ok, so guess the body part. Apparently, it is easy to determine the baby’s head as it is a solid, round shaped mound (no kidding) which feels separate from the rest. Then you get the body, which is obviously longer, and that leads to the extremities, which feel like lots of little bits and pieces really. I located head straight away and then the body. Or had I located the bum, rather than the head? And were those feet shaped things really hands? This game took a while before it became boring, let me tell you.
So this morning I announced to my husband that the baby was obviously lying in one of two positions. Either, the lazy article has not moved since the 20 week scan and is still sitting on its bottom with its head touching its toes, in some kind of ultra flexible yoga move, or it is breech.
There is definitely a large round shape just above my belly button and the rest of the body is rather squished to the right, below my belly button. It would explain the lack of movement felt above my belly button. But the doubled over position would explain that too, since the baby could be both punching and kicking down there too.
I suppose I will find out on Tuesday, when I have my 28 week appointment at the hospital. I wonder if my predictions are correct?
