With her long, wavy locks, full lips and sparkling blue eyes, Liv Tyler manages to have both an ethereal and down-to-earth beauty at once. If you love Liv's looks and have long, wavy hair, follow these simple steps from celebrity stylist Stephen Knoll from the New York City salon.

STEP 1: Wash your hair using a moisturising shampoo. Follow with a hydrating conditioner.

STEP 2: On damp hair, apply - depending on your hair's thickness - a dollop of gel. Start by applying a small amount to the scalp and work it through to the ends.

STEP 3: Blow-dry your hair using a medium-sized round brush. If you have long layers around your face like Liv, dry normally and brush to the side. For the rest of your hair, dry hair in two to three-inch sections. At the end of each section, intensify the heat on the hair rolled in the brush for one to two minutes, then let cool before releasing. Dry each section in this way.

STEP 4: Take each section and wrap it around two fingers to make a large pincurl until you get about five inches from your scalp. Clip the curl and spray that section with one spritz of hair spray. Continue with each section; curls can be rolled either forward or backward.

STEP 5: Allow pincurls to stay clipped while you dress and apply make-up.

STEP 6: Remove clips and release each section, using your fingers to shake the curls free.
