Face the summer

Mascara
3 or 4 coats, thinly applied, is more alluring and natural looking, than two clumpy applications. Shop around for a good waterproof mascara as many offer little in the way of lash extension and volume quality.

Lips

All shades of tinted lip-gloss are fashionable, but if you happen to prefer lipsticks, then neutral shades are ideal for this time of year. Always bear your skin tone in mind, rather than going for what's 'in'.

Most brands do a moisture rich lipstick, some of which even contain a sun block to protect the lips from the sun, well worth investing in.

Cheeks
Blush comes in all textures: cream, gel and powder. Cream may be better for older women, and gel for younger ones, but across the board powder is the most 'universal'.

Stroke a big, full brush over the blush compact once, blow off the excess, smile deeply and sweep the bristles across the soft, lifted part of your cheek, blending towards your hairline. Repeat only if really necessary.

The most important thing to remember is that you have to be comfortable with whatever look you decide to adopt. Only choose colours and textures that suit you, rather than what is currently being touted as the latest look.
