Treating tress distress: 10 hair conditioners put to the test
If the harmful effects of the sun, chlorine and numerous bouts of blow drying have wreaked havoc on your hair the past few months, don't despair. iVillage staff found relief for their lagging locks in the following hair conditioners.
- Boots' Botanics Hair Conditioner; £2.99/250ml. This thick conditioner made my hair soft and I really liked the smell. Most importantly, it banished tangles and made my hair easier to manage. I liked the full-bodied bounciness I got from this product, and I would certainly buy it again.
- Bumble and Bumble Seaweed Hair Conditioner; £8.95/237ml. This product was a bit light for my thick, curly hair, but it would make a good daily rinse for someone with thinner hair. I left it in for about five minutes before rinsing, and it did help get the tangles out of my hair. The conditioner smelled quite fresh and it did a fair job without weighing down my locks. I've used the Bumble and Bumble range before, but while I really like their styling products I'm not crazy about their shampoos or conditioners.
- Clinique Hair Care Quick Detangle Light Conditioner; £8/200ml. 'Gorgeous smell' is the first thought that comes to mind for this product. It helped eliminate tangles and left my hair smooth, soft and extremely easy to style. Plus, it had the added bonus of making my hair feel really clean. I would definitely buy this conditioner again.
- Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner - Ultra Detangling for Medium-Long to Long Hair; £2.49/250ml. I really liked its consistency - on the thin side but not too heavy. I left the conditioner on for about a minute, and it worked quite quickly. Afterwards, my hair was easy to comb through. Overall, my hair felt nourished, shinier and the tips felt very smooth.
