Wheat-free breakfast suggestions

by The Diet Doctors

question

A friend told me that it's best not to have wheat for breakfast. She recommended porridge. I don't have a microwave and don't have time to stand over the cooker making porridge (and washing the sticky pot afterwards).

Any good breakfast suggestions? I sometimes have a couple of oatcakes, but with nothing on them they're not that exciting and definitely don't keep me full until lunchtime, which a bowl of porridge would do.

answer

The quick and efficient way to make porridge is to place half a cup of oats with one and a half cups of water and half a cup of apple juice in a saucepan and leave overnight. By the morning the oats will have swollen and you can add half a cup of semi-skimmed milk and simply stir for one minute over a medium heat on the stove and serve immediately.

When finished fill the saucepan with cold water and wash up when you get home in the evening.

You could also try oatcakes with scrambled eggs or cottage cheese or humous.

Boiled eggs can also be boiled whilst you are getting dressed!
