What's worse - sweetners or sugar?

by The Diet Doctors

question

I would like to know what fruit squash to drink. I used to buy High Juice but then decided to use 'no added sugar fruit barley' drinks. Since hearing that aspartame is not good, I went back to High Juice but saw there are about 30g of sugar in one glass!

Are there any squashes that are high in fruit and low in sugar without all these sweeteners? Or would you recommend diluting fresh fruit juice instead? This is for me and also so I can make sure I am giving my 2-year-old the best drinks I can. I know, of course, water is the best but try telling him that!

answer
At the end of the day there are no bottled squashes or even high concentration juices that are sugar free as the sugar is used as a preservative. There are no substitutes for fresh fruit juices - but juicing your own can be impractical and expensive. So we recommend diluting short shelf life freshly squeezed juices from your super market and diluting them at least 50% for yourself and 75% for your child. Avoid excess citrus fruits - such as orange, grapefruit, lemon and lime particularly for your 2 year old child as these can cause reactions such as skin complaints. Hope this is helpful
