Clotting periods
For the past three periods I've passed clots. They are about one inch in size, nearly black and I experience a strong pain just before it passes. Is this normal?
Do see your doctor as it sounds as if you may need to be referred to a gynaecologist. Passing clots is a sign of excessive bleeding and you may have fibroids or endometriosis. A form of endometriosis known as adenomyosis, which affects the womb muscle itself, can cause the loss of very dark coloured clots together with painful cramps. Other gynaecological causes of your symptoms may also need to be ruled out so do see your doctor as soon as possible. No woman should ever put up with painful period problems without seeking advice.
