I can't stop bingeing

by Dr Sarah Brewer

question
I suffer from binge-eating and don't know how to stop. It's making me feel depressed, and I feel so pig-like after a binge, but I can't stop. Help!

answer
Binge-eating is a common response to stress, and you have taken the first difficult step in seeking help, which is to admit that you have an eating problem.

If you don't feel able to talk to your doctor, you will find it helpful to contact the Eating Disorders Association.
103 Prince of Wales Road,
Norwich, NR1 1DW;
Adult Helpline: 0845 634 1414 (open 08.30 to 20.30, weekdays)
Youthline: 0845 634 7650 (open 1600 to 1830 weekdays).

They can guide you on where to go from here to ensure you get back into a normal pattern of eating. You are not alone - this is very common, especially during times of stress.
