Injury left me with constant pain
I was involved in a car accident last year which has left me with constant pain in my shoulder. I've had injections in my shoulder, tried physiotherapy, pain killers, anti-inflammatories and have had surgery. Nothing is working and the pain is affecting my work, social and private life. Will the pain ever go away?
Long-term pain really drags you down and I'm not surprised you are feeling so low. Pain due to an injury such as this does usually fade away, once the underlying problem is sorted out. You may find it helpful to consult an osteopath or chiropractor, as sometimes poor alignments of joints can cause severe pain, but are rarely diagnosed by traditional doctors.
For pain relief, there are several things you can try. Glucosamine sulphate helps to improve joint healing and production of synovial fluid (the joint's oil), while omega-3 fish oils and bromelain (pineapple extract) help to damp down inflammation. Magnetic therapy can bring rapid relief - try applying magnetic patches to the area. Acupuncture is also worth considering. I hope you feel more comfortable soon.
