With healthy eating so high up the agenda, food labels are all important, but it can be a minefield! While some aspects are governed by law, there are so many loopholes and advertising slants to throw you off the scent. Food labelling is a confusing business. Manufacturers tend to make statements such as 'fresh', or '99 per cent fat-free', but should you blindly trust them and what do they really mean?
Nutritional information
This tells you the quantities and calories for proteins, fats, carbohydrates (including sugars), fibre, and salt, but it can be harder to figure out than you may think
Ingredients listing
