Vaginal dryness - what's going on?
Can you tell me what causes vaginal dryness during sex? I do get excited, but even if I climax I become dry soon after. I'd appreciate any help.
Dryness is very common and can be due to a number of things, including hormonal contraception such as the Pill. If this is a likely cause, it can be changed to a different type/blend to overcome dryness. Other causes include a lack of oestrogen (e.g. around the time of the menopause), a bacterial imbalance or infections such as thrush or even Chlamydia. Try using a vaginal lubricant like Senselle, Sylk or KY Jelly, to see if this helps. If problems persist it is worth having a check-up at a genito-urinary medicine (GUM) clinic to rule out infection.
