Stinging sensation after hysterectomy
Seven months ago I had to have the hysterectomy I'd been avoiding for ten years. I was 57. It was a total, including the cervix, but I'm pleased to report that there has been no change in the quality of lovemaking, in fact it's better and I still reach orgasm - we seldom had penetration before due too the fear of making me bleed. What I have noticed now is that seminal fluid causes a slight stinging sensation on the vulva. Please can you tell me why this is?
It may be that the changes in skin texture that occur after the menopause due to oestrogen reduction have made the skin more sensitive. If you talk to your GP or gynaecologist about the various types of HRT available you may find that this will help the problem.
