Unblocking pipes

If the trap is clear then the problem is probably in the basin waste system. To begin with, try shifting the blockage with chemicals. If this doesn't work, use a plunger or auger. These solutions also work for a kitchen waste system

Chemical cleaner, protective gloves, plunger

Follow the instructions provided. Ensure the area is well-ventilated and wear protective gloves .		 Plunger
If chemicals don't work, use a plunger. Put the cup over the plughole and pump up and down.

More information

  • Take special care when dealing with caustic chemicals. Splashes may burn skin and clothes. Read usage and safety instructions carefully and wear any protective equipment as directed.
  • Help prevent blockages by regularly removing debris from plugholes.
  • An auger, as shown below, can also be used for unblocking basin and bath waste systems.
